Unexpected {Photo Challenge}

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // patina on intricately detailed metal grate beneath baptismal font at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church

You may have noticed that I’m loving weekly photo challenges : ) It gives me the opportunity to
a. get my camera out and snap some creative shots; or
b. dig in Lightroom for photos I’ve previously created and give them new life

Considering it’s summer and I’m on full-time mommy-duty, I’ve been doing more digging than snapping when it comes to finding the right shot. I must say, I’m always quite pleased when I find something that fits the bill (or prompt!) just perfectly.

The theme this week over at A Word A Week Challenge is Unexpected. As I dug through my photos, I remembered a photo in particular… I remembered being so pleasantly surprised when I was taking photos at church and noticed the unexpected, gorgeous and vibrant colors on the metal grate below our baptismal font. Just one of those beauties that is seen, yet unseen. We walk up to it (the font), dip a finger into the holy water, then make the sign of the cross over ourselves, and hurry off to find a seat amidst the crowded pews in our beautiful church. After mass has ended, we head to the font, go through the same ritual, and walk out the ornate doors. The patina’d grate is touched by all who go through this ritual, as it is underfoot, but I don’t know how many of us take the time to marvel at the beauty it provides?

What unexpected beauty has caught your attention recently? I’d love to see, so share a link in the comments! Thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day!
Live creatively!

PS. These are by far some of my most favorite colors in the whole wide world. I’m super inspired to go create a card or scrapbook page now : )
