We’re more than halfway through LOAD214, a fantastic month long challenge of creating a layout a day. The prompts that Lain Ehmann and her team send out are fantastic, thought provoking and always a great way to document many of our photos and stories.

I’ve taken part in many LOADs since 2011, and occasionally there is a prompt where we are challenged to create a page not using a photo. Say what? Yup, you heard it right… NO photo! The very first time I heard this prompt I was dumb-founded. Um, the reason I got into scrapbooking was to do something with the photos I was taking. All 200 million* of them!

To create a page without photos sounded so opposite of what I was hoping to accomplish, but I trusted the process and went with it. This time around was no different. About a year ago I had stumbled upon a “Life List” blog post from the creator of the Epiphanie camera bag and it stuck in my mind. Without a doubt, that post definitely inspired my layout!

My twist on it was getting my families contributions along with my own dreams. My 43 yr old hubby, my 7 yr old daughter and 4 yr old daughter – you can guess who suggested what – some might surprise you! Do you have a life list, bucket list or jar of dreams written out somewhere that you keep for easy reference and inspiration? Let me know – I’d love to hear!

As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day!

  2. Oh, I’m so in love with this project! I think I will do this with my hubby and two girls. I could sit forever reading your butterflies, really! I’ve done some of these things on your list. I recommend visiting Nemo on the Great Barrier Reef. I can’t describe how excited I was to see a clown fish on the reef! In fact, don’t just visit Nemo, take many, many hours to snorkel and float above the amazing world that is there under the water. I was most excited by a blue starfish and the sea turtles (other than Nemo, of course) 🙂 Thanks for joining us at Fusion!

    • Fantastic, Michelle! I so love hearing you’ve been inspired to create one for your family! It truly was fun chatting up everyone’s dreams. And your Great Barrier Reef adventure sounds amazing! I can only imagine the colors and textures and shapes of the sea life – definitely one we all look forward to. Even though some of the items on our list are things my husband and/or myself have done, they are adventures we look forward to with our girls : ) Please share when you do create your version – I’d love to see!! xoxo

  3. You are so creative Connie! I have no creativity or imagination. I would love to sew or knit or crochet, but I’m so bad at all of them. You make it all seem so easy!

  4. Connie, this is a fabulous idea! You need to bring this to the MOMs group as an activity we can do. Start with the moms and then they bring it home to the hubby and kids! Perfect for lent! You could do a mixture of butterflies and flowers, even crosses. Did you do this on a 12 x 12? Great item to frame too! OX

    • Thanks Tanna! Yes, it’s on a 12×12 : ) You’re right – this would be fantastic to do with our group! I’m speaking at the June meeting – specifically on scrapbooking! – but I’ll mention to Rebecca for the upcoming Lent discussion with Deacon Ron. If it’s already a full agenda, I can definitely add it to the June discussion! Great idea to share it with our MOMs group : ) xoxo
