During LOAD (layout-a-day) this past February, one of our challenges was to use old stash. I love the idea of using what I already have on hand, and the whole “use your stash”, “use it up” and “use your scraps” messages have been loud and clear in the community, so this was the perfect time to pull out products I’ve had since I fell in love with the craft years ago!
I’m not 100%, but pretty sure all the products used on this page are at least 4 to 6 years old, if not older. I fell in love with scrapbooking in 2008, but was strictly a collector for a couple years! I really dove into creating pages back in 2010, but there was nothing quick about it – truly at a snails pace. Being part of LOAD (layout-a-day) three times a year for the past few years has certainly sped up my scrapbooking. Besides the prompts inspiring my pages and seeing my style evolve, my absolute favorite part is looking at and reading the stories I’ve been able to document.
Do you create scrapbooks? Photobooks? Blog regularly? I’d love to hear what you use to share your photos and your words. Such an important part of every individual and family story. How many times have you looked back at heritage photos, or even photos from your youth and have no idea who is in the photo with you? or what event was happening? or more importantly, the emotions and insights of the people in the photos or taking the photos? I scrap booked a lot and like you I started in 2008, or maybe it was before that. I did a lot and to keep me going I would often go to the Friday workshops offered. We moved to Shanghai in 2010 and I couldn’t bring my things. I have collected so many images and would love to get them into books some day. I fear now that 4 years abroad and numerous trips will turn into a full time job! I have turned to blogging to keep me busy and document things for now. Friends gave me digital scrapbook software, but haven’t used it yet. Very pricey and bloging seems to fill that void.

Scrapbooking really is a wonderful way to share treasured photos, cherished stories and everyday moments that make life what it is! I can’t imagine having to leave all your supplies behind, but hopefully you’ll be able to enjoy your digi-scrapping software soon! I started my blog January of 2013 and blogged about 125 posts last year. I wish I could say I created as many scrapbook pages! LOAD really does have a wide variety of paper and digi scrappers – and the prompts are great ways to use those photos outside of the “who-what-when-where-why” story telling. Great crossing paths with you – I love seeing your adventures as well : )

What is LOAD an online shop? I had used creative memories and bought additional things at little shops here and there.
It was hard to leave it all behind, but one day I will get back to it.

LOAD is a month long challenge (almost like a class) where you receive a daily prompt through a 2 to 4 minute video, a layout example as inspiration, and ideas for other ways to interpret the prompt. I’ve created some of my favorite layouts with the LOAD prompts 🙂

Cool that will be something to look into when I can get back home and have access to my stuff.
Most of the stuff is printed and made in China and I hoped to get some supplies here cheap, but no luck. It is all shipped elsewhere and not sold in stores here… or any of the shops I have been to. I am sure it will cost me a small fortune to print and get started up again… but it is always worth it in the end.

I’m still in the collecting stage, for the most part. I am working on a Mosaic 8×8 album (snapncrop.com), then I’ll move onto scrapbooking with paper. I LOVE paper. I really like your small-square layouts.

I love your layouts Connie. I mainly digi scrap but recently have gone back to paper crafting and creating artsy paper layouts using my floral and nature photos. Using those type photos with the paper layouts seemed a great outlet for getting back to the paper. I’m pretty slow right now though, it’s been over 10 years since I’ve paper scrapped but I’m loving using my old stash too!

Every time I participate in LOAD, I get a little quicker in my decision making, making my layouts go from taking 6 hours per page to an hour or two, sometimes quicker! : ) Then there’s the photographing and back to the computer! xoxo
