Today, Labor Day in the US, is our day to honor and celebrate those who labor throughout the year. For our family, it’s also the last day of celebrating summer before school starts back up. We celebrate it with life-long friends, swimming, playing, with BBQ, drinks and desserts!
May your day, however you celebrate it, be filled with joy and a little sweetness!

Thanks Amy! Yes, homemade, well, with the help of Betty Crocker of course! Using a baggie with a tip for the frosting/decorating makes it prettier than using a knife 😉

I found this post interesting and Prof. Google confirms your view of Labor Day USA. While the wording of Labour Day in Australia similarly celebrates the Labour Movement, its origins clearly were the movement for an eight hour day (40 hour week). Indeed,

“On 21 April 1856 Stonemasons and building workers on building sites around Melbourne, Australia, stopped work and marched from the University of Melbourne to Parliament House to achieve an eight hour day. Their direct action protest was a success, and they are noted as the first organized workers in the world to achieve an eight hour day with no loss of pay, which subsequently inspired the celebration of Labour Day and May Day. In Tasmania the public holiday is called Eight Hours Day and in the Northern Territory it is called May Day.
The Labour Day public holiday varies considerably between the various states and territories. Happy Labor Day, Connie. We usually “celebrate” by getting things done around the house and yard. We did goof off after church, Sunday. Your celebration sounds fun, but it think I would be more tired after that. Enjoy!
