Sometimes I feel like my daughters make me crazy. Like how many times can I say “put away your shoes?” or “we have to leave before we’re late” or “NO you cannot wear that!” But truth be told, I’m absolutely, unequivocally, head-over-heels, crazy in love with them!
They made me a mommy. They pick flowers (sometimes weeds) and lovingly hand me their bouquets. They draw pictures for me and write cards for me. They constantly want my attention and love to sing and dance, showing off their newest moves or lyrics. Atย bedtime, they ask me to read to them, even though they both can read, especially my 8-yr old who can breeze through chapter books, but still wants me to read to her. They’ve given me the most amazing gift and journey… motherhood.ย Truly, they’ve made me complete โค
But life gets busy. I get overwhelmed with the everydayness of life — cooking, cleaning, laundry, chauffeuring, volunteering, working, blogging — everything it takes to make our family life keep plugging away. And I forget to take it all in. To take in my girls as they are right here, right now. So for this month’s 10 on 10, I wanted to focus on just them, my baby girls, before yet another month goes by and I realize I’ve been focusing ย my lens on the “stuff”, and not the most important beings: my beautiful, smart, lovely, compassionate, free-spirited, whimsical, silly, big-hearted, musical, fun loving baby girls!
I hope you don’t mind indulging me and letting my proud-mommy-ness shine through โค We spent an afternoon in Balboa Park having fun, getting pictures of them being little girls, being themselves.ย Myย girls are my life and I love that they radiate joy, love, innocence, sweetness, and all the goodness that my dreams filled with at the thought of having daughters! Truly, I am blessed!

Love all these images of your darling girls. You can feel the love that not only you have for them but that they have for each other. So, so sweet! And I totally agree how important it is to capture these fleeting moments of our children.

Thanks Kristina! It startles me at times when I’m looking for photos for a project and realize how few I have within that time frame of my babies! I’m so happy to hear you say you can see the love they have for each other! Somedays they’re the best of friends and others they’re siblings who are needing their space, but all-in-all, they really do love each other to pieces! Thanks again for your sweet words! xoxo

Connie, what a wonderful reminder to me to turn the camera toward those whom I love the most: my children (hubby won;t let me take pics of him.) Your images are beautiful and your words are such a blessing. The love you have for your girls shines through in each shot.

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words, Laura! As photographers, I think we forget to use our big cameras on our most cherished loves! Glad I was able to offer a gentle reminder! BTW – My hubby is the same way ๐

Thanks so much Kimmie! You are too adoraBELL ๐ “Mini-me’s roaming the earth” — hopefully that’s a good thing ๐ Ha! I’m blessed to be their mama and moments like this it’s nice to take them in with all their craziness and enjoy the exuberance of 8- and 5-years olds!

Thanks Luca! It’s crazy how fast they grow! Sometimes we need that gentle nudge to do more with them and capture those fleeting moments! xoxo

Beautiful girls and fantastic, fun-filled photos of them (I especially love the photo of them at that orange table). Also, your post is a great reminder to focus our cameras on the people in our lives . . . I don’t do that enough.

Thanks so much, Bonnie! I definitely fall into the “cobblers children have no shoes” mode and forget to get big camera photos of my babies! Its been a fun reminder to do it more often ๐
