Weekly Photo Challenge: Change

tea

Life is constantly changing around us. But when we take the time to notice what we take for granted, we can see a little deeper into the beauty that’s right in our backyard. The tree roots on the left are from a banana tree in our backyard. The tree was planted before we moved in, and we’ve watched over the years as the roots have just wrapped themselves in loops around the base.

When I was faced with creating my first diptych, I realized I wanted to use this tree or the roots really as they intrigued me. And as I was looking at it, then it hit me, how much it looked like a watering can. My older daughter was all about tea parties at the time, so I started envisioning a teapot. It was a bit challenging getting the angle of the pouring tea right, but I love the way it rather organically came together – not only for the beauty in the photos, but for the fact that tea comes from the earth, and this image is such an expression of that change, that most beautiful and lovely gift we receive from nature.

Thanks for stopping by and have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day!
Live creatively!
