While in college, I fell in love with all the containers and organization at Bed, Bath and Beyond, as well as The Container Store. But perusing my photos, I didn’t find the kinds of photos I was envisioning sharing. So many times we view containers just as a holding place – an item between us and what we really, really want… the contents within those containers!
But as I perused my archives, searching for photos for this week’s theme for The Daily Post Photo Challenge: Containers, I realized many of the containers I’m drawn to are glass, or have a clear aspect so we may see the contents, which got me thinking about the glass in itself – the different patterns and shapes. It’s really beautiful when you think about it!
What types of containers are you drawn to? Clear? Opaque? Plastic? Glass? Ceramic? Wood? Metal? Colorful? Monotone? Me? I like it all! No container discrimination here! But it looks like I like to photograph the glass ones the most : )
Photo Tip: When photographing a repetitive subject, like jars lined up, get it at eye level and from a side angle to get visual interest. {Click to Tweet}
While in college, I always hoped to win a fabulous closet make-over from one of the organizing stores. Not to replace the contents of my closet (I was voted best-dressed in high school, after all!), just the organization part! Never won it, but I’m definitely a container junkie and my craft room is full of containers holding all my crafty goodness.
I’m in the middle of reorganizing my craft room, but maybe if that’s done before the week is up, I’ll put up another “containers” post! I just finished a scrappy-hour with some scrappy-friends on Spreecast and got a tour of my friend Alice’s studio – from Scrapbook Wonderland – cute name, huh?! Anyway, her studio is amazing and reinvigorated my desire to reorganize my craft room, so wish me luck!
As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day! Make sure not to miss any future posts by signing up for the Clicky Chick Creates email list here!

Beautiful photos, Connie! I’m attracted to glass and ceramic containers…especially ones that are made in Deruta. I am helping my son move and set up a new apartment, so your container ideas come in handy!

I love the jam jars and also the colored glass. (on the jam: reminds me of my days as a country girl, when we picked wild berries and made jam and jelly, always so tasty and also beautiful)

Thanks! And although I’m not a country girl (I’m more coastal/city/suburbs girl from Southern California), I do have fond memories of picking plums and apricots from our backyard and making jams. Seems to me those little containers help us release some contained memories 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

I love your photography! My favorite containers are definitely glass jars and bottles and the smaller the better! Not that I can ever think of what to store in them because they are usually to small, but pretty.

Thanks so much for your lovely comment, Rusha! And I totally agree on the beauty of the cloche – from desserts to plants to displaying treasures, they just look so much more elegant under the dome!

Love your take on this week’s theme. I, too, am in love with glass containers — they make me examine the contents even more. I don’t own a cloche, but I love the way they look whether showing off something antique or something planted or whatever. Thanks for making me think about some of the containers I use everyday.

Yes, the wine jugs were from a small winery in the South of France, and they still utilize the old Roman way of wine making! It was really cool to see 🙂 http://routedesvinsdeprovence.com/decouvrir-domaine/vignoble-des-hautes-collines-de-la-cote-d-azur
