When I read the prompt “Refraction” over at the Daily Post, my initial response was “huh?” and I quickly had to google it! Do you know what it means?Β Wikipedia to the rescue with an explanation. I’m educated, and continue to love to learn, so getting stumped by a word is sometimes a nice surprise!
I loved the water droplet images that I saw, but don’t have any of those shots in my archives. And I don’t have a macro lens (yet!) so I couldn’t just whip one up, althoughΒ it is on my wish list (feel free to help a girl out and contributeΒ towards it here!) π
I remembered theΒ image I had in my archivesΒ of a cake stand and paints in the background, but I wasn’t totally feeling it. So,Β I decided to do the next best thing to the water droplet images and use jars and glasses of water to distort a background. This isn’t mind blowing creatively, but it was fun to squeeze in a little photo funΒ in the middle of a crazy busy day! My favorite part is the pinwheel-ish look and yellow “button” in one of the glasses of water! Pretty cool, huh?!
I have to admit that being able to quickly whip up an idea and stage a photo like this has come from having photography be top of mind on a daily basis. How’s that? Definitely a big influence isΒ being part of Katrina Kennedy’sΒ Capture Your 365Β community. Have you checked it out yet?
I’ll be joining Katrina on Sunday, October 19th (later today!), to chat LIVE atΒ the Worldwide Photo Walk After Party!Β Join us as we’ll chat about our photo walk experiences and how a photo walk can improve your photography! We’ll even have a private Flickr group to share photos for discussion during the live event! Get details and register here!
As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day!Β And if you havenβtΒ signed-up for theΒ Clicky Chick Creates email listΒ yet, whatcha waiting for? Youβll get β7 Must-Have Kid Birthday Photosβ printable photo tips as myΒ thank you!
Live creatively!

Connie, I agree with you the yellow button looks like a dot through which one can cross the other side. π
I like the second one as well a colourful zebra pattern.
I also did something similar with my photos.
