My girls love to give me ideas on what to scrapbook. Of course they love being the center of attention and especially love having pages all about them! But one of our favorite activities at the end of a season, is to recap our favorites that we just experienced. I shared that listing process on a bucket list layout {Jar of Dreams} I created a while ago, and we continue with our tradition!
I created this layout as part of the Layout-a-Day (LOAD) month long challenge creating a scrapbook page every day. I haven’t kept up, but I’ll be playing along when I can this month. No harm, no foul, no scrapbooking police coming to take me away or kick me out of the challenge! Oh how I love these monthly challenges! But I digress…
So my husband, daughters and I come up with our list of faves and I file them away, waiting for an occasion opportunity to scrapbook them 😉 When I was looking at the list, I noticed that about half of our list was all about water activities. How could I resist making this double page spread all about water?!
I created the background paper using gelatos, water, a brush and some water. I started with two yellows to create the sun, varying the amount of each yellow gelato and water mixed. Then I did the same with the blues, varying the water and colors to create some variation. I used glass beads over a bubble stencil and I love the bubbly water feel it created! I’ll definitely be using this same technique again – maybe for a page about yummy bubbles (champagne), cleansing bubbles (a bath), blowing bubbles (we even have a bubble machine!) or our sweet dog Bubbles! Lots of options!!
Did you notice the “cover up” on my page? I wasn’t thinking when I stamped my “best of” and stamped 2015 instead of 2014. Oops! But it was an easy fix. I used the same paper and stamped a single “4” to place on top of the “5” I had stamped. Sometimes, I feel like a Scrappy MacGyver 😉
And I’ve gotta mention that part of my inspiration for this layout also came from Cori / The Reset Girl’s “Listers Gotta List” challenge – I found her through a planner group, but I am totally smitten with her monthly list challenges, too! Check out her instagram feed for some yummy listing and embellishing inspiration!
