The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge: Community of course made me think of the many communities that I love and belong to – social, religious, photography, crafting, blogging, and so on. But the minute I thought of a photo to represent any of the communities, I thought of one of my favorite photos from my church. And then another photo, and then another, and another, but I figured I’d limit myself to two!
In the photo of our statue and dome, I added texture and blogged about it here. Seriously, I love our gorgeous church, but not only for the amazing architecture, but truly for the sense of community it provides. My daughters were both baptized here. I was the Nursery Coordinator for our co-op parent run nursery when my first baby was a year old. I belong to the Ministry of Mothers, I was even on the board for three years! I’ve volunteered for many of our galas and vacation bible schools. We’ve been part of the parish for nearly 6 years now and I absolutely love the friendships we’ve formed and family we’ve become through it!
What communities do you love belonging to? I’d love to hear!
As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day!
Live creatively!

Hi Conny. The top photo intrigues me: I see a dome, things hanging from the roof, I see a light spot but no window and the sky. But can’t make anything of it. Love to see more photo’s (from the inside and outside) of your church (assuming it is your church). Please post some more if you have! I love photographing churches: http://jeroendehaanfoto.wordpress.com/tag/church/
Oh, and my community? Hmm, used to be a big LEGO fan and in the LEGO community. Now, dunno really.

Thanks Jeroen! The blue sky is actually a painted window /skylight and there are little windows where walls would be – the top photo is actually the inside of the dome from the bottom photo – you can see the glass in the bottom image: ) Hope that helps! I’ll have to get more images soon! It really is a gorgeous campus!

Hi Connie. It’s true–we belong to many communities these days. Maybe too many! I wish the sense of purpose and commitment was also strong across communities and in Congress–a fractured community of special interests and individual goals. What happened to ethic of serving the public for the greater common good?

So incredibly true! It would be so nice to come together as a collective community to effect change for the greater good as opposed to deepening pockets of the few!
