Oh yes, I’m scrapbooking about Christmas! I know, it’s May and we’re having an insane heat wave in California, but this month is LOAD514 (Layout A Day) and I’m a Featured Designer! The prompt “Dear Santa” inspired me to tell the story about the “letters to santa” mailing tube I bought way before my hubby and I had kids! I guess I was dreaming about babies instead of sugar plums that winter π
When creating this page, the alphasΒ I had in my stash were the perfect size, a great clean font, but they just didn’t have the pizzazz I wanted so I heat embossed them using Versamark and a glitter/tinsel embossing powder. And voila, exactly what I wanted!
As IΒ picked photos and papers, I saw that it was getting a bit busy, so I decided to add the journaling to layered tags that I could tuck under the photos. Note: remember to create a bit of a pocket and NOT add tape to the section you’ll be tucking your journaling behind! Oops!
Do you scrapbook? Or create photo books? Do you journal and document your stories? That’s the stuff future generations will love to hear about! Be sure to take the time to jot down those memories – whether in your own handwriting or typed up – your kids will love reading your stories!

As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day!

This layout is lovely! The tag idea is smart, too, busy scrapbook pages can be a real problem for me. Documenting life now for everybody later is definitely worth it, agreed. π

Thanks Esther and I know what you mean about the time and work! Months like these where there’s a daily challenge helps to speed it up – you learn to move more quickly instead of getting hung up on the “perfect” layout… “Done is better than perfect” type of mentality!! π

I’m a lazy scrapper-going down the quick and easy route. But I am hoping the kids will read them one day. Already they love flicking through the pages!

That’s the best – when the kids want you to read their stories! And whatever your style or method to get your pages done, at least they’re getting done! No sense in keeping the photos on a hard drive or the memories unwritten π

Hey Connie, your title caught my eye because it is May and it just started to warm up in NY. I’m not ready for Christmas yet because it brings the cold weather back. LOL!! Your layout is great. I haven’t scrapbook in a long time. I use to do it a lot when my daughter was a baby. I wanted to start up again. I love the pictures on your layout, they really pop on the page. Great Job!!

I love to be reminded of Christmas in May – thank you. I don’t scrapbook but I certainly can appreciate the art that is scrap booking. I give private children’s art lessons and visit Michael’s Craft Store quite a bit. When I’m not buying paint, I’m browsing the scrap book aisles. I love to see the new items – the papers, lettering…. my background was originally in graphic design and I know how marrying fonts together can be challenging – You have a beautiful talent for it. I love these images.

Thank you AnnMarie – your kind words are greatly appreciated! Teaching private art lessons must be ah-ma-zing! I’m part of the “Fine Artists” parent volunteer teachers in my 1st graders class. I find I break a sweat teaching them, but am cool as a cucumber teaching scrapbooking and artsy techniques to adults! Go figure π Thanks for stopping by and commenting – I think we have quite a bit in common and I look forward to digging into your site!
