Bridal Parties and Wedding Banners {Feeling Crafty}

It’s definitely that time of year…wedding season! Such a wonderful time of life when brides are working hard to make their dream wedding vision a reality! She’s getting all her bits and pieces ironed out for the style of her big day – party favors, decorations, menu, signature cocktails and so much more. Not only is the Bride working her magic, but her made-of-honor and bridesmaids are busy too handling bridal showers and bachelorette parties, making sure each detail shines like the bride herself!

Speaking of shining…I’m sure you’ve caught on to the gold trend over the past year or so?! It’s that perfect, sparkly, glamorous touch to every event!

Over on my Etsy shop, I’ve been busy creating custom orders for weddings, parties and celebrations of all sorts! I just love these super popular and trending banners with fun sayings like “POP FIZZ CLINK” and “EAT CAKE” and “SWEET TREATS” and CUSTOM HASHTAGS and “FUTURE MRS….” and, oh I can just go on and on! Welcome to another Make It Monday! Can you believe this is #17? So excited for the series and I hope you’re enjoying it as much as I enjoy creating projects to share!

All of these are handmade by yours truly 🙂 I love adding the extra touch by dry or heat embossing to add texture, hand faux-stitching, distressing, stamping, cutting…whatever it takes to give it that extra something to make it extra special! Or if you’re inspired to make any of these on your own, below are all the goodies I used to make them! My biggest tips to you:

When picking your papers, pick a patterned paper for your pennants (background) and a solid card stock for your letters.
Adding custom touches to your letters helps them pop – think heat embossing, dry embossing for texture, glitter, hand faux-stitching and more!
If your letters don’t pop against the patterned paper, add a neutral colored shadow behind the letters to give them some pop!

Make It Monday // Christmas Crafts {Feeling Crafty}

Welcome to another Make It Monday!

Are you in full-swing, happy-as-a-camper holiday-mode? I sure am! Christmas tree is up and decorated. Christmas music is on All. The. Time. ❤ Stockings are hung, and an elf has arrived for his annual visit to our home with sheer delight from my girls! Love, love, love this time of year and just can’t get enough!

Last year, a friend from church (who just so happens to have been a friend in college!) invited me to sell my crafts at her annual Holiday Boutique at her home. She opens up her home to about a dozen local small businesses and crafters to sell their goods as a fun and friendly holiday social event and fundraiser for local charities. I wasn’t able to participate last year, but I jumped in this year! I created lots of holiday banners and gift tags, and have even listed them on my Etsy shop! If there’s anything that strikes your fancy, please consider purchasing it by Wednesday, December 10th as 20% of proceeds will be donated to Rady’s Children’s Hospital, in continued support of Lianna’s Holiday Boutique 🙂

CRAFTING TIP: Using multiple patterned papers to create a cohesive look is challenging yet important for a product to look polished and professional. When picking your papers, the easiest route is to choose papers from the same collection. If you’re mixing and matching collections, stay within the same color family, or at least the same tonal values. Many manufacturers will have new yearly collections, but will work with previous year’s color tones, so be sure to shop your own stash, too!

Make It Monday // Fall Banners {Feeling Crafty}

Welcome to another Make It Monday! Do you know that Fall is my absolute favorite season? Kinda crazy considering San Diego is in a perpetual summer, but it’s true… I absolutely love Fall!

In the US, we still have Halloween this month and most of the month of November before we celebrate Thanksgiving on November 27th, but I’m creating samples for a class I’m teaching next month, and thought I’d go ahead and share these creations as Canada is celebrating their Thanksgiving Day today. Cheers, Canada!

PROJECT TIP: Get cohesion in your choices! When I was conceptualizing my projects – selecting colors and papers for these banners – I had the fun idea to add texture to the kraft paper. But what type of texture? I let the theme of the papers lead my decision… leaves and trees, so adding wood grain texture to the neutral kraft cardstock seemed like the perfect fit! Did you notice it on the banners? What do you think? Pretty cool, huh?!
