Right around Valentine’s Day, I volunteered to make a craft with my first grader’s Daisy troop. As I searched my craft room for project ideas, I had thought of working with them to create this project I pinned a couple years ago (the love tree/hand tracing), but I have done this project with my daughters classes for just as many years…

So on to plan B. As I was looking through my supplies, I found tubes (from Close to My Heart) that I had not finished using. I had eight left over – perfect for the 8 Daisies in my daughters troop! I pulled some foam stickers, cardstock, mini heart punch and we were in business!

Each girl received:

• a tube,
• 15+ strips of cardstock cut to fit comfortably inside,
• hearts punched from same cardstock, and
• a pen

Before the meeting, our troop leader and I brainstormed some positive characteristics that are reflective of being a good Girl Scout, but the girls did so great brainstorming as a team during the meeting, we didn’t even need our list!

Each of the girls decorated their tube with stickers. Then they wrote out qualities and characteristics they have and would like to have and put them in their “love tubes” – perfect little reminder of who they are and who they want to be!

They really are a sweet group of girls and I love sharing my love of crafting with them! This activity helped them earn their purple learning petal: Gloria the Morning Glory, Respect Myself and Others. They’re so young, have so much to offer the world and have their whole futures ahead of them. Lucky girls! They were also the happy recipients of my butterfly snacks a few weeks back : )

I think we all need written reminders of the goodness we offer the world. Wouldn’t it be great if we all had these sweet reminders of our greatness and offerings to our communities? Why not do it? Yes, right now, write down three (or more!) characteristics that help make you the BEST version of yourself. But don’t just write them down and bury them in a drawer, or a notebook, or on your computer. Put them on Post-It’s and on your mirrors, your computers, your fridge, your door – anywhere and everywhere you’ll read them regularly. And let me know how it makes you feel! Here, I’ll start:
