Halloween Tags {Feeling Crafty} // Halloween tags for ScrapHappy tag swap

Besides my IRL family and friends, I really do love the online communities that have become family too! One of those communities is my Scrap Happy family – an online community of crafters from all over the world. Occasionally we’ll have a tag swap, so I made these three tags to send to crafty like-minded dear friends sprinkled throughout the world! // Halloween tags for ScrapHappy tag swap

It’s almost creative madness and therapy when I’m in my craft space! With regular doses of photography and crafting, my creative heart is quite content : ) Do you craft? If so, you really should read about True Scrap below… // Halloween tags for ScrapHappy tag swap // Halloween tags for ScrapHappy tag swap

Lain Ehmann, the crafty and creative genius behind Scrap Happy and, is the same mastermind behind True Scrap. What is True Scrap you ask? Imagine an amazing convention with your favorite instructors and scrappy friends coming together for two-days of mind-blowing classes, without the expense of travel and craziness of logistics! It’s a fantastic way for crafters around the world to come together for two-days, via the internet, in the comfort of home! Yup, I was in my jammies for most of the True Scrap 5 classes this weekend : )

We (as in over 300 of us) had such a fantastic time learning from top leaders in the industry, topics included photography, gelli plates, paints, stamps, design principles, canvas art, and more, more, more! I’m going to be quite busy in my craft room! I’m already looking forward to the next True Scrap event… In the meantime, Lain is offering a HUGE discount on the replays from True Scrap 2. If you’re even remotely into crafting, you should definitely check it out. For the rest of today, Saturday, October 12, 2013, Lain is offering 65% off the full replays of True Scrap 2. That’s 17 instructor videos plus virtual make and takes for only $44, with code HUNK at checkout. Did I mention Lain’s a huge Hugh Jackman fan? Yup, today’s his birthday, and that’s why the code is HUNK. She’s funny that way!

Artsy Tags

Back in October I participated in my very first tag swap over at It was a Halloween swap, and the criteria was to create three Halloween tags (anything goes, except no gore!) to send to three members of our lovely community. I had so much fun creating each tag! I got good and inky, layering and blending distress inks, using distress stains, adding stickles, background stamps, fun elements cut out using my Slice electronic cutter, misting perfect pearls, and on and on.

Since then, I’ve been crazy hooked on making one of a kind tags for every occasion. Thanksgiving? Check! Christmas? Check! Birthday? Check! New Year’s? Check! and of course… now Valentine’s!

But before we talk about Valentine’s tags… As I created the Halloween tags, I had a couple additional layers I envisioned, so I went to my favorite LSS – Cool Scrapbook Stuff – with tags in hand to find the perfect final components. When I shared my tags with the adorable staff, they gave me some amazing compliments (especially Danni!), and even encouraged me to design a tag making class for the store! I was so flattered and couldn’t wait to put something together. But as a family photographer, my peak season was staring me in the face, with everyone preparing to send out Christmas cards. So, my tag class would need to wait until the new year.

So here we are… I finally designed a class for Valentine’s Tags! I love the way these came out. I love my LSS and being a former retail boutique owner, I know how important it is to support local small businesses. So I created each tag with a different technique and products. Misting over a stencil? Check! Distress inks using a blending tool? Check! Distress stains using a craft mat? Check!

I’m looking forward to teaching my first class and hope students walk away from the class feeling inspired, creative, and completely ready to use all the techniques they learned!

Thanks for reading and have a joyous, creative day! Happy crafting!
