Make It Monday // Fair Summer Memories {Top Dog Dies}

MakeItMondayCircle-RED-CORAL-MAYWelcome to another Make It Monday! I hope you’re ready for some summer fun today! We’re sharing some of our favorite Summer Memories, maybe even listing some of our favorites! Hey, a listers gotta list! Here we go…

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Fair scrapbook layout with balloons using Top Dog Dies

One of our most favorite summer outings is going to the Fair! We’ve been going to the Del Mar (San Diego) Fair for many years with our besties – the T family – since 2010! Can you believe it?! Time flies, and I have tons of photos from every year, but I decided to focus on summer 2014 for this layout. It was quite a monumental year as my baby girl was finally able to ride so many of the rides with her sister and BFF, Super-D!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Fair scrapbook layout with balloons using Top Dog DiesI used the Top Dog Dies Balloon Die Set to create the balloons for my page title, as well as the large balloon for my journaling! The set has some smaller balloons too. I love all the sizes and variations! I also used the clouds from the Hot Air Balloon Set. Also, notice the detailing going across the large balloon with journaling? That’s using another new Top Dog Dies die – the Borders #1 set. I loved making these fun details for this layout!

What are some of your favorite summer memories? I’d love to hear about them in the comments! Be sure to document them – whether in a scrapbook layout, a journal, or written on the back of photos! Time flies and you’ll forget those little details way too soon!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Wall of Crosses, Villa, RosaritoRemember the post I shared last week about my brother’s wedding? Well, the villa we stayed at had this wonderful wall of Crosses that I loved and grabbed this shot. I meant to include it in my post, but forgot to. Lucky for me, this weeks Daily Post weekly photo challenge: Angular made me think of it 🙂

As always, thanks for stopping by. Oh, have you stopped by my Etsy or Society6 stores yet? I’m happily sharing my creative projects, as well as photography via prints, phone cases, pillows and a myriad of other products! If you check either out, be sure to let me know what you think?!

Refraction // Rainbow Glass {Photo Challenge}

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // refraction, glass, rainbow, paints, colors, colorfulWhen I read the prompt “Refraction” over at the Daily Post, my initial response was “huh?” and I quickly had to google it! Do you know what it means? Wikipedia to the rescue with an explanation. I’m educated, and continue to love to learn, so getting stumped by a word is sometimes a nice surprise!

I loved the water droplet images that I saw, but don’t have any of those shots in my archives. And I don’t have a macro lens (yet!) so I couldn’t just whip one up, although it is on my wish list (feel free to help a girl out and contribute towards it here!) 🙂

I remembered the image I had in my archives of a cake stand and paints in the background, but I wasn’t totally feeling it. So, I decided to do the next best thing to the water droplet images and use jars and glasses of water to distort a background. This isn’t mind blowing creatively, but it was fun to squeeze in a little photo fun in the middle of a crazy busy day! My favorite part is the pinwheel-ish look and yellow “button” in one of the glasses of water! Pretty cool, huh?!

I have to admit that being able to quickly whip up an idea and stage a photo like this has come from having photography be top of mind on a daily basis. How’s that? Definitely a big influence is being part of Katrina Kennedy’s Capture Your 365 community. Have you checked it out yet?

I’ll be joining Katrina on Sunday, October 19th (later today!), to chat LIVE at the Worldwide Photo Walk After Party! Join us as we’ll chat about our photo walk experiences and how a photo walk can improve your photography! We’ll even have a private Flickr group to share photos for discussion during the live event! Get details and register here!

As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day! And if you haven’t signed-up for the Clicky Chick Creates email list yet, whatcha waiting for? You’ll get “7 Must-Have Kid Birthday Photos” printable photo tips as my thank you!

Birthday Wish {Feeling Crafty}

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // WISH birthday card, door, banner, balloons, entry, fusion, challengeSometimes inspiration hits at the oddest moments, right?! Ever have the most brilliant idea while you’re in the shower with nary a pen and paper on hand?! Or how about while you’re on a long distance drive and you’re already running late and can’t pull over?! Yup, had one of those moments… but today it hit me while I was at the gym! I finished up my workout and dashed home to make this card, but just missed the deadline for the end of the Fusion Card Challenge 🙂 but still wanted to share!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // WISH birthday card, door, banner, balloons, entry, fusion, challenge

I love getting inspired from challenges. There are several that I participate in (…hmmm… blog post idea for a future date…) when I have the time and can meet the deadline. But I have to tell ya, I am crazy inspired to create after taking any sort of classes. After every True Scrap class I’ve taken, I can’t even tell you how inspired I am! You remember the scene from Edward Scissorhands where Johnny Depp’s character is cutting away and you see hair flying all over the place? Yup, that’s kinda me in my craft room but instead of hair flying, it’s paper!

True Scrap 6 registration just opened up today, so be sure to check it out! Click here to find out about it. and if you register now, my sweet friend, True Scrap super hero Lain is offering a $20 savings when you use coupon code “HERO” – pretty cool, huh?

If you’re at all crafty, seriously check this out! It’s a full day of crafty goodness… classes online with amazing industry leaders and crafty super sheroes! Not only is the class content always fantastic, but the online chat with the instructors and other crafty friends from around the world make this an unbeatable, unforgettable, and not-to-be-missed event! And even if you can’t make it live, you’ll have access to the class videos where all the meat is, and the class supply list is such a great help too for when you’re ready to tackle a new project and can’t remember the exact item the instructor used… all easily listed and ready for our use! Click here to learn more!

I’m already signed up and hope to see you there!

Community // Beautiful Church {Photo Challenge}

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // dome of church from inside

The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge: Community of course made me think of the many communities that I love and belong to – social, religious, photography, crafting, blogging, and so on. But the minute I thought of a photo to represent any of the communities, I thought of one of my favorite photos from my church. And then another photo, and then another, and another, but I figured I’d limit myself to two!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // dome of church from inside

In the photo of our statue and dome, I added texture and blogged about it here. Seriously, I love our gorgeous church, but not only for the amazing architecture, but truly for the sense of community it provides. My daughters were both baptized here. I was the Nursery Coordinator for our co-op parent run nursery when my first baby was a year old. I belong to the Ministry of Mothers, I was even on the board for three years! I’ve volunteered for many of our galas and vacation bible schools. We’ve been part of the parish for nearly 6 years now and I absolutely love the friendships we’ve formed and  family we’ve become through it!

What communities do you love belonging to? I’d love to hear!

As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day!
