Family Habits {Photo Challenge}

Where in the world did the weekend go? It’s Tuesday, almost Wednesday already?! This is nuts! I’ve been wanting to write this post since Friday morning, but I’ve been blessed with teaching classes, photographing clients, and editing gorgeous family photos, and this is the first opportunity I’ve had to focus on the blog…

The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge: Habit seemed easy enough, but when I thought of habits, I couldn’t help but giggle a little thinking of our habits as a family. Take my baby for example… she LOVES to dress up. It’s rare that she goes an entire day without several wardrobe changes. And besides wardrobe, she rarely leaves the house without wearing a tiara! Yes, a tiara… that’s my girl!

My first born baby, well, she loves to come in the kitchen when I’m cooking and grab “samples” of what’s on the menu, or better yet, the ingredient list! Luckily, she usually asks before grabbing, and knows not to go near a knife in motion. She’s such a good, healthy eater!

My hubby? He’s an amazing guitar player! Besides the awesome songs he’s written for me and my girls, he’s really great at playing covers and I love seeing my girls rock out with him! The girls will either dance like maniacs, sing their hearts out, or grab additional instruments and jam with their Daddy! One of my favorite nights at home recently included margaritas, my hubby on the guitar, and belting out Pearl Jam’s “Last Kiss,” a definite favorite around here. Seriously, what’s not to love?!

And my habit, which I’m slowly, and little by little, turning into a daily habit, is crafting. I love using inks, stencils, Washi tape and all the other supplies in my craft room, I’m sure you’ve noticed some of my crafty posts here! There is something very fulfilling about taking a blank canvas and creating a beautiful new project! And the fact that my girls love getting crafty too? That just means I get to enjoy it that much more : )

What kind of habits are you documenting? Are you playing along with the Daily Post? I’d love to see!

As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day!

From Lines to Patterns {Photo Challenge}

“From Lines to Patterns” is the theme for this weeks challenge at the Daily Post. I decided to dig through my archives to feature some of my faves : ) Here’s a little sampling of Balboa Park, Paris, our old palm tree, kindergarten art, and the Rosarito Beach Hotel pier. Enjoy!

Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market

A few weeks back The Daily Post has posted “Fresh” as the photo challenge for the week. And although I went in a different direction, {see post here} this post idea hasn’t stopped running around in my mind. So, here’s another post on Fresh, with images I took at the Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market!

I keep thinking I don’t head to outdoor markets as often as I’d like, but apparently I do! So far this year, I’ve been to a couple other farmer’s markets that I blogged about – one in Little Italy {San Diego}, the other in Nice {France}. I do love heading to local markets for the fresh produce, to support local small businesses and the photo opps are fantastic.

Besides the great fruits, veggies and flowers, the vendors themselves were great too, engaging with the locals, and a few that I chatted with were fairly new, recently starting their businesses.

I loved checking out the handcrafted goodness that many of the vendors offered. Here’s but a few..

And of course I had to get some breakfast while I was there. My hubby had taken our daughters to the beach, so I was able to savor every single bite of these yummy Danish pancake balls – aebleskiver – and trust me, they were delish! *Since my first visit, we’ve been back a couple times as a family, and my daughters absolutely devour these breakfast concoctions – yum, yum, yum!!

The inspiration all around at farmer’s markets is always a breath of fresh air. What do you love about your local farmer’s market? I’d love to hear! Thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day!

Fresh! {Weekly Photo Challenge}

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // cucumber, lemon and chili, Mexican childhood snack

The Daily Post theme for this week’s photo challenge is fresh – and with the beautiful summer we’ve been having, I thought it was a perfect prompt to highlight two fresh photos!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // cucumber, avocado, tomato and other fresh produce at farmer's market

I’m a huge fan of Katrina Kennedy, and she recently posted a photo of some huge cucumbers she grew in her garden. The photo made me think of my grandfather {my Vivi} for several reasons: 1. he loved to garden and was so extremely proud of the fruits (and veggies) of his labor; 2. we’d often snack on cucumbers (or jicama) with lemon and chili; and 3. many a time we’d get a cucumber on a stick with said lemon and chili from street vendors in Mexico City… yum!

So, after seeing Katrina’s photo, I had to get to the local farmer’s market and grab a delicious bite of my youth! So glad I did; the cucumber and lemon were fresh and tasty and the trip to the Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market was great with several hidden gems. I’ll be posting more about the market and vendors soon!

What recent photos have you seen that made you fondly remember your youth? I’d love to hear! Thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day!
