Family // Best of 2012 {Photo Challenge}

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // family photography 2012

I love posting photos, particularly sneak peeks for my client sessions! I started my blog just over a year ago, {January 9, 2013 was my first post!} so most of my 2013 families have been featured on the blog – yay! But seeing the prompt at the Daily Post weekly photo challenge: Family, made me realize how much I wish I had started blogging earlier : ) So, I’m playing along with the challenge, posting a “best of 2012” featuring some of my favorite photos from the amazing families I was able to photograph in 2012. I’ve been blessed to work with beautiful families and love the friendships that I have (new and old) that are formed before, during and after our sessions!

Family Habits {Photo Challenge}

Where in the world did the weekend go? It’s Tuesday, almost Wednesday already?! This is nuts! I’ve been wanting to write this post since Friday morning, but I’ve been blessed with teaching classes, photographing clients, and editing gorgeous family photos, and this is the first opportunity I’ve had to focus on the blog…

The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge: Habit seemed easy enough, but when I thought of habits, I couldn’t help but giggle a little thinking of our habits as a family. Take my baby for example… she LOVES to dress up. It’s rare that she goes an entire day without several wardrobe changes. And besides wardrobe, she rarely leaves the house without wearing a tiara! Yes, a tiara… that’s my girl!

My first born baby, well, she loves to come in the kitchen when I’m cooking and grab “samples” of what’s on the menu, or better yet, the ingredient list! Luckily, she usually asks before grabbing, and knows not to go near a knife in motion. She’s such a good, healthy eater!

My hubby? He’s an amazing guitar player! Besides the awesome songs he’s written for me and my girls, he’s really great at playing covers and I love seeing my girls rock out with him! The girls will either dance like maniacs, sing their hearts out, or grab additional instruments and jam with their Daddy! One of my favorite nights at home recently included margaritas, my hubby on the guitar, and belting out Pearl Jam’s “Last Kiss,” a definite favorite around here. Seriously, what’s not to love?!

And my habit, which I’m slowly, and little by little, turning into a daily habit, is crafting. I love using inks, stencils, Washi tape and all the other supplies in my craft room, I’m sure you’ve noticed some of my crafty posts here! There is something very fulfilling about taking a blank canvas and creating a beautiful new project! And the fact that my girls love getting crafty too? That just means I get to enjoy it that much more : )

What kind of habits are you documenting? Are you playing along with the Daily Post? I’d love to see!

Eerie // Louvre Art {Photo Challenge}

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // eerie photos from the Louvre, Richelieu wing, St. Valerie holding her head

When I read The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge: Eerie, I immediately thought of all the ghouls and creepy things that came with Halloween. But then I remembered a couple of shots I took on my last day in Paris, inside the Louvre. I loved these images, but never really knew what I was going to do with them. Thank heavens for prompts making me think outside the box!

We had just a couple of hours at the Louvre before we had to head to the train station to continue our adventure in the South of France. My girlfriends and I decided to go our own ways in the Louvre as we all wanted to see different things. On my way about, I got a bit twisted around, but luckily found these sculptures that caught my attention in the Richelieu wing.

Have you photographed anything eerie lately? Be sure to play along with the Daily Post!

Horizon // Hawaii ’03 {Photo Challenge}

My photography style has definitely evolved over the ten years that have passed since I took these photos in Oahu, Hawaii, but I thought they fit this weeks prompt perfectly! And honestly, what’s not to love about Hawaii?! I can’t wait to check out what others have posted for the Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge: Horizon – it’s always a visual feast seeing all the amazing photos from around the world and definitely stirs the wanderlust in me : )

As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day! And by the way, I just want to say thank you to all my blog followers, both new and old! Your comments and encouragement totally rock my world! This is my 100th blog post – can you believe it? Wow, I can’t believe I’ve hit 100 posts in just over nine months – just about the same amount of time I was pregnant with each of my baby girls. I guess I could look at my 100th post as my blog baby : )

Thanks again! Live creatively!

Hue of You // Pink {Photo Challenge}

Color has a way of making me feel happy or sophisticated or playful or overwhelmed or optimistic or a myriad of other emotions. But one color that always makes me happy and makes me think of how lucky I am to have two very girly daughters… PINK! It’s funny how a prompt can make you think of colors in such a different way!
