It warms my heart when friends reach out, commenting that they love the way my photography has developed, and ask me to capture a moment in time of their own family ❤

I’m ecstatic to have been able to work with the I family. Little L was a blast and she definitely kept me on my toes! Her beauty and personality were totally captivating and the love between all three of them was a pure joy to capture.

I loved working with the adorable I family! They were a blast to work with, Little L has loads of personality and energy, and I hope they all enjoyed their session experience!

As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day! Make sure not to miss any future posts by signing up for the Clicky Chick Creates email list here! You’ll get a great little freebie download as my thank you!

PS. Truth be told, one of my favorite aspects of family photography and capturing the little looks, expressions and personality of our loved ones in the here and now is that before we even realize it, those little traits that we love are gone, but hopefully never forgotten! Be sure to capture those memories and moments before they’ve passed!

Split-Second Story // Glam Beach {Photo Challenge}

My girls are very girly, so it really shouldn’t have been a surprise that my little one wore her tiara headband when we headed to the beach with her big sister’s Daisy troop to help with beach clean-up! Not many days go by without glamour and dress-up around our house! The pose? So totally her!

What story does this shot say to you? Are you playing along with the Daily Post weekly photo challenge: Split-Second Story? The challenges are always a great way to share your photo passion with others!

It’s a Musical Life {Feeling Crafty}

ClickyChickCreates.com // It's a Musical Life scrapbook layout using My Mind's Eye Follow Your Heart paper collection

The daily prompts from Lain at Layout a Day (LOAD) are always inspiring and help me create layouts and document stories that I don’t normally think to tell. Just like when I heard the prompt “Seeds of the Future,” my mind went to my aptitude tests from high school and that the careers I have chosen have closely aligned with those choices (business school/marketing, fashion merchandising, architecture). But as I searched for photos to help tell that story, I came across the photo I used of my 10-yr old self trying to play the guitar!

I knew immediately the story I needed to document was how important music has always been to our family. I pulled some old My Mind’s Eye papers and had fun punching and fussy cutting the hexagons and adding layers and dimension to the layout. Getting the journaling into hexagons was a bit tricky using Word, but I wanted to continue the theme!

Are there seeds from your past that have developed in unexpected ways? I’d love to hear about it in the comments, even share a link to a photo, a layout, a blog post… anything that helps tell your story!

As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day!

What do you do with all your photos? I wanna know!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // scrapbook layout "Love…" - wedding layout with black and white photo using red, black and white papers

Photos, photos, and more photos… over 108,000 of them in my Lightroom catalogue, let alone the boxes and boxes of prints that I have from before the digital era. Crazy, I know! Why am I telling you this? Because it’s what I do with those photos that makes my heart sing… I frame them, I post them, I share them, I gift them, I scrapbook them.

When I had my first baby, near the beginning of the digital camera era, I had snapped over 1100 photos of her before she was 3 months old – more than I had taken the previous three years combined! After framing and filling a loooooong hallway wall with photos of those early months, I feared I’d end up wallpapering my whole house with her photos before her first birthday! So I had to find another way to give those special memories some love, and that’s when I entered the world of scrapbooking!

In the early days, I primarily bought lots of scrappy stuff, dreaming of all the wonderful pages I would create. Truth be told, it took a while before I actually jumped in and started creating. A little bit intimidated, a little bit overwhelmed, a little bit unsure of what to do, so I started looking at classes to take (yes, I LOVE organized learning!) and found classes to help me along the way.

One of those classes (well really it’s a more of a challenge than a class) and a primary way I make time to scrap is LOAD – layout a day. And LOAD is right around the corner – during the month of February (May and October, too) we are challenged to create a layout every day. It’s AWESOME! It might sound overwhelming, but just like Capture Your 365, there are no daily police, no one is waiting to kick you out if you don’t post that day. It’s a matter of having a community to share your passion and experience with; a prompt to inspire a daily creation; and a personal goal to document your story and photos for your family and future generations.

JUMP! {I Heart Faces Photo Challenge}

Image

My baby girl was having a fantastic time earlier this week at the free concert in the Organ Pavillion at Balboa Park. Her dancing and jumping brought so much joy not only to my husband and I, but several strangers approached us to share their heartfelt thanks for the smiles and joy our baby gave them as well. One even asked if my baby girl was a dancer, as she was a ballerina in her day and could see that “something special” in my little dancing ballerina!

I hope her joy and jump puts a smile on your face like it does mine!
