Make It Monday // Spooky Banner {Top Dog Dies}

2015-10-20_2825_spookybanner

MakeItMondayCircle-FALL2015Welcome to another Make It Monday… on a Wednesday 🙂 Life’s been a little nutty*, but then again, who isn’t in the same boat?! But I couldn’t let the week pass without sharing this little cutie pie banner, er um, creepy, freaky banner!

I wanted to use the Top Dog Dies Wicked Witch Die Set again. It’s so fabulous, I just couldn’t help myself! You might remember the Witch card I made a few weeks ago? Check it out here if you missed it.

I really wanted to make a banner that said “Drink Up Witches” and have the witch feet upside down, lol! But as a mommy to two young girls, that just wouldn’t work in our house. Too many questions! And I think I’ve been reminiscing about my college and young adult life years too much. Ah, the good old days… But I digress. Just thought I’d share that banner idea for anyone interested in making a sassy banner of their own!

As always, thanks for stopping by my little colorful spot on the web! Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day! And make sure you’re on the Clicky Chick Creates email list so you don’t miss a thing! Sign up here!

Make It Monday // Wicked Witch Card

MakeItMondayCircle-FALL2015Welcome to another Make it Monday! Yes, technically, it’s Tuesday, but really? Make it Tuesday just doesn’t have quite the same ring!

I’m back with another fun card made using the newest release from Top Dog Dies! How adorable is this Wicked Witch set?! The details that go into the dies are amazing! The skirt has adorable stitching, as do the stockings and shoes. I used the stitches on the stockings as my guides to color in stripes for her – so cute! And the buckles on the shoes? Well of course they had to be gold! I even added a gold spider on her skirt for a little extra kick. Even a witch likes to be blinged out!

TDD_CH_WickedWitch_1157

I added another spider, this time to the cauldron on the patterned paper (from DCWV, no longer available) – little details like that can help tie in the entire scene together! Oh, and another way I tied it all in together was adding Wink of Stella. A whole lot of it! To the shoes, the jack-o-lanterns on the skirt, the spider and bubbles on the cauldron, and some of the text on the left. Easy peasy!

I hope you’re inspired to create some fun Halloween cards! I think this set would be adorable on some party invites, too! How would you use the dies? I’d love to hear! And be sure to check them out over on the Top Dog Dies site – lots of new releases just announced in the last week! Super cute stuff!

Dialogue // Diptychs {Photo Challenge}

Using a diptych, whether to tell a story, to show details, to show a comparison, scale or sequence, is fabulous to help convey an idea, or to plant the seed to new ideas…

What do these say to you? What dialogue is taking place between the images? Do you hear a story?

10 on 10 – April // Engagement at Mercado with Rey & Gina

I had the amazing privilege to photograph this gorgeous couple for their engagement session, not once, but twice! We actually broke their session into two sessions – you might remember this post from last week of our sunset beach session? For our first session, we actually headed to a Mercado to get some local flavor and colors in Baja California.

And did I mention the best part? Those cutie pie-love birds are my family! My handsome and smart brother Rey and his adorable and creative fiancé Gina are getting married towards the end of the year, and we are so excited for the big event!

Gina and I have been pinning ideas and texting back and forth with inspiration for this session, and when she went exploring her new neighborhood, found these adorable areas for us to incorporate during our session. We did a morning session at the local Mercado and had a blast! There were so many amazing little spots we found during our outing, we could’ve went on photographing for days!! The colors, the textures, the vibe – we loved it all!

Juxtaposition // Bubbly Toes {Photo Challenge}

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Little Girls wearing Mama's shoes, dress up, toes, growing up

I was a bit stumped with The Daily Post weekly photo challenge: Juxtaposition. I could see ideas in my mind, but nothing was coming together yesterday. Then, I realized these shots I captured earlier this month fit the bill perfectly! The shots were inspired from the Capture Your 365 prompt “Where You Stand” – love Katrina’s daily prompts!

When I was pregnant, I prayed and prayed for girls, and I was blessed with answered prayers. My girls are now 7 and 4 years old, and have always loved playing dress up, and ocassionally putting on my shoes and walking around the house. Those shoes have usually been my sneaks, UGGs, or flip flops – life of a stay-at-home-mama. But my 7 year old recently eyed my neatly-organized, rarely-used boxes and boxes of heels and has been obsessed wearing them around the house as much as possible! And of course whatever big sister does, little sister has to do too!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Little Girls wearing Mama's shoes, dress up, toes, growing upThis is such a concrete reminder of how fast they’re growing and that even though my prayers for baby girls were answered, those babies will grow up to be big girls one day. The juxtaposition of their bubbly baby toes in my big girl heals just reminds me how much they’ve grown, how little they still are, and where we’re headed. For now, I’ll just have to enjoy the sweet little girl moments as much as possible!

Check out other interpretations of juxtaposition here. And check out my other photo challenge posts here.
