Make It Monday // Displaying Paper Crafts {Feeling Crafty}

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // easy wall display for scrapbook layouts, tags, cards and more!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Make It Monday, blog hopBack with another fun Make It Monday! Do you remember the True Scrap classes I’ve mentioned here? True Scrap Events are LIVE online classes full of inspiration, community and fun! Well, we just had True Scrap 6 earlier this month and one of the instructors totally inspired me with her wall display! Layle Koncar taught a fabulous class on interactive mini books, and in the intro of her video clip shared a peek in her studio. She had a similar display and I knew that was exactly what I needed in my space! She actually taught at True Scrap 5 and I had spied that wall display back then, too! I’m so glad I finally got it on my wall and off my to do list!

I’m able to display five 12″x12″ layouts, along with 4 to 5 cards or tags. It’s a little hard to see with the glare, but it really looks awesome! I can’t help but stare at the wall when I’m in my craft room!

The page protectors become side loading and super easy to work with. So what did I use?

Measure out how long you want the telescoping curtain rod to be, then mark where you want the mounts to be – measure out both width and height – you don’t want one side higher than the other! Add your hooks/rings and clips to the rod before you secure it in the mounts. Tighten up the mounts after you place the rod where you want it. Add your layouts to your page protectors SIDE loaded. Clip your layout and page protector onto the rod and enjoy your creations!

I love that I’ll be able to easily swap out layouts, easily displaying new creations. I know my daughters love when I make new pages and now they’ll be able to enjoy them by just walking into the room! I might even do this on another wall in the house to display their art pieces – we have a pretty amazing art program at their school 🙂

14novackermanfreeI can’t help but point out that not only are the projects in the True Scrap classes full of inspiration, but the instructors themselves are amazing! Another True Scrap instructor that I just adore, not only for her projects, but truly for the amazing person she is and how she incorporates faith into her art, is Stephanie Ackerman! She’s teaming up with my friend Lain Ehmann and offering a FREE ONLINE CLASS! Do yourself a favor and sign up here… it’s FREE!! In the scrapinar on November 3rd, Stephanie shares how to turn ordinary text into inspiring, faith-filled works of “Heart!” So excited!

Make It Monday // Beachy Tag {Feeling Crafty}

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Beach inspired tag, blending, embossing, stencils, templates, texture, modeling paste, stamping, punching, distressing and more! I’m so excited to kick-off a new creative blog hop with a few crafty and creative friends from all corners of the world!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Make It Monday, blog hop

We’re a pretty crafty bunch, with everything from Scrapbooking to Art, Embroidery to Photo Management, paper to digital – really, a little bit of everything! Initially, I met many of these gals through a Layoutaday, and then more through a crafty Facebook group. Either way, we all share a passion of crafting and sharing, so the idea hit me that as much as I enjoy checking out their blogs and sites, you might like the same!

Every Monday, a few of us will be sharing our creations with each other and you, our fabulous friends and readers! I hope you’ll pop on over and check out what everyone is up to, creatively speaking of course. It always amazes me where we’re able to find inspiration, especially in those unexpected and unfamiliar to us gems!

To start off our tour, I’m sharing a fun tag I made for a tag swap last month when I went to Arizona for a creative retreat. I was actually lucky to meet some of these fabulous gals in person, and now you’ll be meeting them in our Make It Monday posts – talk about a fantastic treat all around!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Beach inspired tag, blending, embossing, stencils, templates, texture, modeling paste, stamping, punching, distressing and more!

Part of the fun in meeting up with a couple dozen friends from all over North America at our retreat was a fun game we played, guessing who made which tag, based on a few clues within the tag and how it represented each creative mastermind behind it 🙂 Being from San Diego, I couldn’t help but incorporate the beach into my tag. Not too subtle!

I had a blast making this tag! One of my favorite parts was adding texture to the Starfish (or is it called a Sea Star?!). Can you guess what I used to add texture? Check out this short video clip to find out…

If you’d like to learn how to make this tag from start to finish, stay tuned as I’ll be posting  my downloadable class on the Clicky Chick Creates Etsy shop!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Make It Monday, blog hopNow head on over to check out more crafty goodness… You may have come from my friend Karen at Photos Kept Alive – she has great tips – for both digital and paper crafters! Even if you didn’t come from her site, be sure to head back to check out her post! But first, check out my friend Margareta at Use Your Stash and be ready for a visual and creative feast! Margareta is one of those incredibly creative types who makes it all look fun, has great tips, and definitely empowers us to use what we have! Head on over and let her know I sent you! I hope you enjoy our inaugural Make It Monday blog hop!

Daisy Love Tubes // Positive Self-Esteem {Feeling Crafty}

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Valentine's Day craft for kids, love, tube, stickers, self esteem, positive, Daisy, troop

Right around Valentine’s Day, I volunteered to make a craft with my first grader’s Daisy troop. As I searched my craft room for project ideas, I had thought of working with them to create this project I pinned a couple years ago (the love tree/hand tracing), but I have done this project with my daughters classes for just as many years…

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Valentine's Day craft for kids, hand tracing, stickers, heart hands, heart photo

So on to plan B. As I was looking through my supplies, I found tubes (from Close to My Heart) that I had not finished using. I had eight left over – perfect for the 8 Daisies in my daughters troop! I pulled some foam stickers, cardstock, mini heart punch and we were in business!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Valentine's Day craft for kids, love, tube, stickers, self esteem, positive, Daisy, troop

Each girl received:

  • a tube,
  • 15+ strips of cardstock cut to fit comfortably inside,
  • hearts punched from same cardstock, and
  • a pen

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Valentine's Day craft for kids, love, tube, stickers, self esteem, positive, characteristics, self esteem builder, Daisies, Brownies, Girl Scouts, troop

Before the meeting, our troop leader and I brainstormed some positive characteristics that are reflective of being a good Girl Scout, but the girls did so great brainstorming as a team during the meeting, we didn’t even need our list!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Valentine's Day craft for kids, love, tube, stickers, self esteem, positive, Daisy, troop

Each of the girls decorated their tube with stickers. Then they wrote out qualities and characteristics they have and would like to have and put them in their “love tubes” – perfect little reminder of who they are and who they want to be!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Valentine's Day craft for kids, love, tube, stickers, self esteem, positive, Daisy, troop

They really are a sweet group of girls and I love sharing my love of crafting with them! This activity helped them earn their purple learning petal: Gloria the Morning Glory, Respect Myself and Others. They’re so young, have so much to offer the world and have their whole futures ahead of them. Lucky girls! They were also the happy recipients of my butterfly snacks a few weeks back : )

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Valentine's Day craft for kids, love, tube, stickers, self esteem, positive, characteristics, self esteem builder, Daisies, Brownies, Girl Scouts, troop

I think we all need written reminders of the goodness we offer the world. Wouldn’t it be great if we all had these sweet reminders of our greatness and offerings to our communities? Why not do it? Yes, right now, write down three (or more!) characteristics that help make you the BEST version of yourself. But don’t just write them down and bury them in a drawer, or a notebook, or on your computer. Put them on Post-It’s and on your mirrors, your computers, your fridge, your door – anywhere and everywhere you’ll read them regularly. And let me know how it makes you feel! Here, I’ll start:

1. Generous

2. Creative

3. Amiable

Now it’s your turn! Go! As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day!

Believe in Miracles Gelatos Card {Feeling Crafty}

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Believe in Miracles card using gelatos, stencils, ink, embossing, pink, purple, lavender, blue, craft and sequins

Sometimes I just want to go to my crafting space and just create! That’s exactly what happened this week when I made this card. My hubby recently found out his oldest sister has been diagnosed with breast cancer, so I wanted to make her a card to let her know we’re thinking of her. I thought the “Believe in Miracles” sentiment, along with the giant heart stencil and mask would be great to use for this project. We love her and wanted her to know she’s in our thoughts and prayers…

Butterfly Snacks? Oh, Yeah!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // healthy butterfly snacks made with baggies, clothes pins, pipe cleaner, grapes, fruit, crackers

I saw butterfly snacks on Pinterest, and knew I had to make them for my daughter’s Daisy Troop! How cute are these?!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // healthy butterfly snacks made with baggies, clothes pins, pipe cleaner, grapes, fruit, crackers

To make them, use sandwich size baggies – fill it with about 1/4 grapes, making sure to keep them on one side of the bag. Fill the other half with crackers (goldfish, Ritz, Cheez-Its, etc). Use a decorated clothes pin to cinch the bag up the middle, folding back the closure.

To decorate the clothes pins, you need the following:

All I did was firmly swipe the clothes pin across the multi-colored ink pad. Pinch the pipe cleaner to form a V shape. Using the thin point of a pencil, wrap the edges of the pipe cleaner to form curls in the antennas. Use the tacky glue to adhere the antennas to the clothes pin. Let it dry for a few hours (or overnight if you can). Draw a smiley face, or better yet, if you have small googly eyes, glue those on : )

That’s it! Your little ones will love these and it’s totally worth the minimal effort!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Penguin gift tags, handmade, paper crafting, google eyes, goodie treat bagsMy 1st graders school mascot is the penguin, so when I saw these penguin tags over at Huh. So this is a blog, I knew I had to make them too!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Penguin gift tags, handmade, paper crafting, google eyes, goodie treat bags

The penguin tags were perfect to put on goodie bags filled with the pumpkin muffins we had made the day before, and special treats we were able to deliver to teachers and administration at my daughter’s elementary school. Go Penguins!!

What in the world did we do before blogs and Pinterest? Oh yeah, flip through magazines for inspiration : ) Oh, this is so much easier though! Thanks for the inspiration JanR!
