Make It Monday // Holiday Treat and Tag {Feeling Crafty}

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Rice Krispies treats with Hershey Candy Cane Kisses, Christmas, ornament, gift tag, DIY, quick, easy, hostess giftMakeItMondayButton-Christmas2Welcome to another Make It Monday! I have a major sweet tooth and love having treats year round. But when the holidays roll around, there are wonderful seasonal flavors that make the indulgence that much sweeter!

Have you tried Hersheys Candy Cane Kisses? They are amazing! Because of my sweet tooth, I have a hard time passing up seasonal candies, but truth be told, sometimes seasonal candies are better in concept than they actually taste in my mouth! So when I tried these, I was so delighted with how yummy they were!

Friends invited us over for outdoor movie night (yes, a southern California luxury in the middle of winter!) and I had decided to bring over some Rice Krispies treats. As I started making them, I decided I would chop up some of the Candy Cane Kisses to add to the treats. WOW! I seriously can’t even tell you how yummy they came out! If you are even a tiny bit into either of these treats (Rice Krispies and candy canes), then you MUST give this recipe a try!

Ingredients

  • 5 Tbsp butter
  • one 10 oz bag (~6 cups) Jet-Puffed miniature marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies
  • 20 to 24 Hershey’s Candy Cane Kisses, unwrapped

DIRECTIONS

  1. Chop up kisses into tiny pieces, set aside.
  2. Melt butter in large microwave safe bowl, approx 1 minute.
  3. Add marshmallows to butter. Toss to coat. Melt marshmallows in microwave (approximately 1-1/2 minutes), stirring every 45 seconds.
  4. Add Rice Krispies (2 cups at a time) to melted marshmallow mixture and stir well.
  5. Once all Rice Krispies are incorporated, mix in half of the chopped Candy Cane Kisses. Stir well. Incorporate remaining chopped Candy Cane Kisses.
  6. Place mixture into greased 13×9 baking dish. Press down and into place, filling in corners and evening out – using parchment paper and back of measuring cup helps to press down!
  7. Set aside and let set for a couple hours or place in refrigerator to speed up setting time.
  8. Cut up into one to two inch squares or use candy cane cookie cutters for shaped treats. Enjoy! Or share by place cut pieces into cupcake liners and stack in treat bag for your loved ones to enjoy, too!

Make It Monday // Gratitude Place Cards {Feeling Crafty}

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Thanksgiving, place cards, thank you, hostess gift, gift tags, gratitude, Etsy, custom, handmadeMakeItMondayButton-Fall-2Welcome to another Make It Monday!

So I have to ask, besides the menu planning, grocery shopping, food prepping, and house cleaning, are there any other Thanksgiving projects you tackle in preparation for the big day?

Last year, in preparation for Thanksgiving, I decided to make customized place cards / gratitude cards that would be combined into a Thank You & Hostess gift for my mother-in-law.

Using various Tim Holtz Distress Inks (products listed below), blending tools and stamps, I created these adorable tags, and even went as far as to customize each one with every guests’ name. As family members saw the tags and commented on them, I asked them to write out a note of gratitude to our amazing and lovely hostess. I was so happy everyone lovingly embraced the opportunity to share their thoughts and we even read our notes aloud ❤

In preparation for a class I was teaching the day after our return from our Thanksgiving holiday, I had taken a bin of crafting supplies to work on while visiting for the week. In the bin, I had packed the supplies needed to make these tags. It really would be easy to travel with, even on an airplane!

Thanksgiving / Gratitude Tags {Feeling Crafty}

Connie Hanks // ClickyChickCreates.com // Thanksgiving tagsI know, I know, Halloween candy is still in the house, decorations are still up, costumes are strewn around, everyone’s on a sugar overload, and here I am blogging about Thanksgiving! I just had to share these cute “Beautiful Abundance” tags I came up with for Thanksgiving…

Connie Hanks // ClickyChickCreates.com // Thanksgiving tags

Last year I made these “Thankful” tags and added them to goodie bags of treats I shared with friends from church. I also added them to the pumpkin pies I baked for our local firehouse. That tradition started years ago and I was even published in Real Simple Magazine sharing our pie tradition!

For the tags I just made, I thought it would be nice to add a space to add a note about what we’re thankful for this year. These will make great placecards for our Thanksgiving table! Also, I love adding hidden journaling to my scrapbook pages, and sometimes will write on the back of a tag, like I did here. These would fit the bill nicely for hidden journaling for a fall or Thanksgiving layout!

Wedding Cards {Feeling Crafty}

Connie Hanks // ClickyChickCreates.com // wedding cards with wedding cake and love banner

We were invited to a couple of family weddings earlier this year and being a lover of handmade paper goods, I decided to get crafty in my craft room. I created the first card in pink and loved the way it came out, so I decided to recreate it in blue. And seeing that the prompt at Simon Says Stamp is Use a Cling or Rubber Stamp, I figured this was a great time to post these cards!

Connie Hanks // ClickyChickCreates.com // wedding cards with wedding cake and love banner

For both cards, I used the Slice Elite electronic die cutter with the “Wedding” design card to cut out the tiered cake, and the “Je t’adore” card for the L O V E hearts banner. On the pink card, I decided to cut out the cake from different patterned papers, then cut and stack them. On the blue card, I cut it from one piece of cardstock and stamped different designs on each layer. I also added a border stamp and embossed the top edges of the cake to make it look more like frosting.

I also embossed the sentiment before gluing down and added pop dots to give dimension and make the cake pop.

They were fun and fairly quick to put together. As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day!
