The spirit of Christmas truly makes this time of year absolutely magical, wouldn’t you agree?! Besides spending time with loved ones, I love getting crafty and making even little things extra special, particularly for my daughters! One of our newer family traditions is enjoying a North Pole Breakfast with our annual Elf friend, Buddy.

Our special elf, sent from Santa to assess if my girls will be on the nice or naughty list, makes his appearance in early December, and disappears the night of Christmas Eve. We’re pretty lucky that he’s not a naughty or mischievous elf, but he definitely keeps an eye on our girls!

Print, cut and create your “North Pole Breakfast” banner, with two types of snowflakes!

We have a special North Pole Breakfast with Buddy. Some of our friends wake up to a special North Pole Breakfast when their elves arrive. For our family, we have ours on the last day that Buddy is with us and we bid him adieu with a fabulous breakfast with lots of powdered sugar, marshmallows and whipped cream… you know, stuff to remind him of the snow he’ll be going home to! We have powdered donuts, hot cocoa, snowman shaped pancakes, with bacon scarves and berry buttons! We’ll even have santa hats made of strawberries, bananas and marshmallows! It’s a special breakfast, and a special meal and celebration deserves special decorations! So, I created this printable set, which I am thrilled with and hope you are too!

Make It Monday // Snowman Card Peek {Top Dog Dies}

MakeItMondayButton-Christmas2Welcome to another Make It Monday! In southern California, we’ve had quite a bit of a heat wave, but this morning was rather cool and even a little drizzly. It felt fabulous! It was the first time it’s felt like anything but summer over here. Even though it was a tiny tease of fall, I had to run over to Trader Joe’s and buy everything pumpkin I could get my hands on 🙂 Feeling so festive, what a perfect time to share a sneak peek of a card using the new winter dies from Top Dog Dies!

TDD_CH_Winter-Snowman_1853

I actually used several die sets for this card. Three to be exact! The dies are all fantastic and I love layering different elements to create unique cards. The new dies will be released tomorrow, so I’ll be back with lots of details tomorrow about all the yumminess on the card!

This is a little different from most Make it Monday posts, but I promise to be back tomorrow with all the details on making this card! As always, thanks for stopping by my little colorful spot on the web! Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day!

Another Frozen Banner?! {Feeling Crafty}

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Frozen snowflake birthday bannerIn the past few months, my daughter’s (and I) have been to a plethora of Frozen-crazy little girl’s birthday parties! Everything from a Frozen Pool Party to a Frozen Spa party, including singing Elsa’s and Anna’s to face paintings by the sisters, and everything in-between!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Frozen snowflake birthday banner Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Frozen snowflake birthday banner

One of our dear friends decided she wanted her party to be a “Snowflakes in July” party, not a Frozen party. I offered to make a birthday banner (I do love to craft so much!) but I think my mind is on Frozen overload… The banner was definitely full of snowflakes, but my color scheme screams Frozen! Oops! I think she still loved it though 🙂 There definitely were no Anna’s, Elsa’s, Olaf’s or any other characters on the banner, just a ton of snowflakes!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Frozen snowflake birthday banner

I actually made some Frozen paper crafts for my 5 year old’s birthday party in the spring, which feels like a million moons ago! I also made a banner for her, along with an Olaf activity/treat and custom goodie bags – you can check the post out here. Since I had a bit more time to focus on the banner this go around, I went full throttle and decided to make something I’d eventually love to sell on Etsy! So, if you’re interested, sign up HERE to be on my email list to be the first to know when my store opens! Besides banners, I plan to sell cards, as well as gift tags, and eventually digital download classes, too.

As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a joyful, creative, blessing filled day! Make sure not to miss any future posts by signing up for the Clicky Chick Creates email list here! You’ll get a great little freebie download as my thank you 🙂

Dear Santa {Feeling Crafty}

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Dear Santa layout using My Mind's Eye Vintage Christmas papers, tags, embossing, kraft tags, twine, wood veneer snowflake embellishments

Oh yes, I’m scrapbooking about Christmas! I know, it’s May and we’re having an insane heat wave in California, but this month is LOAD514 (Layout A Day) and I’m a Featured Designer! The prompt “Dear Santa” inspired me to tell the story about the “letters to santa” mailing tube I bought way before my hubby and I had kids! I guess I was dreaming about babies instead of sugar plums that winter 🙂

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Dear Santa layout using My Mind's Eye Vintage Christmas papers, tags, embossing, kraft tags, twine, wood veneer snowflake embellishments

When creating this page, the alphas I had in my stash were the perfect size, a great clean font, but they just didn’t have the pizzazz I wanted so I heat embossed them using Versamark and a glitter/tinsel embossing powder. And voila, exactly what I wanted!

Connie Hanks Photography // ClickyChickCreates.com // Dear Santa layout using My Mind's Eye Vintage Christmas papers, tags, embossing, kraft tags, twine, wood veneer snowflake embellishments

As I picked photos and papers, I saw that it was getting a bit busy, so I decided to add the journaling to layered tags that I could tuck under the photos. Note: remember to create a bit of a pocket and NOT add tape to the section you’ll be tucking your journaling behind! Oops!

Do you scrapbook? Or create photo books? Do you journal and document your stories? That’s the stuff future generations will love to hear about! Be sure to take the time to jot down those memories – whether in your own handwriting or typed up – your kids will love reading your stories!

Well there’s no better time to share some of my favorite photos of this holiday season than now! The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge: One asks us to show photos that highlight “one thing”. To me, that means my love of shallow depth of field and wide open aperture will definitely work for this challenge!

And that’s just a few of my favorite Christmas songs! What are yours? What Christmas songs touch you emotionally, whether it’s a smile on your face or a tear in your eye? What photos have you captured this holiday season that makes your heart sing? I’d love to see or hear, so let me know in the comments!
